3.1.3 TRANSITION State
A transition from IDLE to PROCESSING always starts with all LEDs off followed by a sequence (bottom-up)
indicating the loading of each firmware component.
The transition from PROCESSING to IDLE happens when the firmware is reloaded or unloaded by the
application on the Host Card. Because this transition has no intermediate steps there is no associated LED
pattern (the LED Bar is not refreshed during this transition).
The DSP Card self-test that is performed after power-up and before entering the IDLE State represents the third
and last possible TRANSITION State.
Transition from IDLE to PROCESSING State (firmware download)
The following example shows the state after a successful boot-up of all firmware components:
IDLE
PROCESSING
DSP 6 successfully booted
DSP 5 successfully booted
DSP 4 successfully booted
DSP 3 successfully booted
DSP 2 successfully booted
DSP 1 successfully booted
VDCA booted and operational
SLotector CONFIG DONE

Transition entering IDLE State (DSP Card power-up self-test)
On power-up the third LED from top is lit to indicate the start of the self-test. This way if the self-test should
stop (an error occurred) it is still possible to distinguish this TRANSITION state from the one going from IDLE
to PROCESSING. The bottom LED is never lit.
The following example shows the state after a successful self-test:
IDLE
PROCESSING
MMU, cache, BSC initialized
controller clock-ratio set
SDRAM initialized
ext. bus req. enabled
PCI initialized
self-test successfully completed
RESERVED for future use
LED off – never used
self-test
progress
Because the self-test is executed in a few milliseconds the IDLE state is usually the only visible state after
power-up if no error occurred.
