4. Splice program
Category Splice program Details
SMF
G652
SM G652 Std. Can be used to splice identical standard SMF (ITU-T G.652).
SM G652 Quick
Can be used to splice identical standard SMF (ITU-T G.652) and make a
faster splice. In this mode APDS is disabled.
SM G652 AIAS
Automatic Intentional Axis Shift (AIAS*2) enables to splice identical
standard SMF (ITU-T G.652) with high core-cladding eccentricities.
Other SMF The splice programs including standard SMF (ITU-T G.652) are listed.
SM ATTN1
This mode intentionally creates a high splice loss by shifting the centers
of left and right fibers. A displayed estimated splice loss may not match
actual splice loss depending on the type of the fiber being spliced. It is
recommended actual splice losses should be measured using power
meter.
・Recommended attenuation range: 0.1~5.0dB
・Target Loss: Enter a target splice loss in the spice program settings
screen. Editable attenuation range is 0.1~15dB (in increments of
0.1dB)
・ATTN coef.:If the target splice loss does not match the actual splice
loss, edit this value.
MMF
G651
MM G651 Std. Can be used to splice identical standard MMF (ITU-T G.651).
MM G651 Quick
Can be used to splice identical standard MMF (ITU-T G.651) and make a
faster splice. In this mode APDS is disabled.
Other MMF The splice programs including standard MMF (ITU-T G.651) are listed.
DS G653
DS G653 Std. Can be used to splice identical standard DSF (ITU-T G.653).
DS G653 Quick
Can be used to splice identical standard DSF (ITU-T G.653) and make a
faster splice. In this mode APDS is disabled.
Other DSF The splice programs including standard DSF (ITU-T G.653) are listed.
CSF G654
CS G654 Std. Can be used to splice identical standard CSF (ITU-T G.654).
Other CSF The splice programs including standard CSF (ITU-T G.654) are listed.
NZ G655
NZ G655 Typ. Can be used to splice identical standard NZDS (ITU-T G.655).
NZ G655 Quick
Can be used to splice identical standard NZDS (ITU-T G.655) and make
a faster splice. In this mode APDS is disabled.
Other NZDSF The splice programs including standard NZDS (ITU-T G.655) are listed.
BIF G657
G657 adaptive
Can be used to splice identical standard Bend Insensitive SM fiber: BIF
(ITU-T G.657). This mode helps splice optical fiber with complicated
core profile.
G657 Quick
Can be used to splice identical standard BIF (ITU-T G.657) and make a
faster splice. In this mode APDS is disabled.
Other BIF The splice programs including standard BIF (ITU-T G.657) are listed.
SPF -
Splice programs for special fiber such as EDF, photonic fiber which are
not categorized in the other splice programs are listed.
Recent - Recently selected splice programs are listed.
Perform an arc test before splicing in standard mode splice programs.
(▸P.2-15 Arc test)
Standard Mode
*2: High core-cladding eccentricities have an effect on surface tension during an arc, giving high splice losses. To
minimize the effect, this method intentionally shifts the centers of the cores of left and right fibers when splicing.
