Measure the runout with a dial gauge. Replace the camshaft if
the runout exceeds the limit.

CAM CHAIN TENSIONER
For driving the camshafts, two cam chain tensioners are used
on the respective cam drive chains. Unlock the ratchet mecha-
nism, and move the push rod in place to see if it slides smooth-
ly. If any stickiness is noted or ratchet mechanism is faulty,
replace the chain tensioner assembly with a new one.
The cam chain tensioner can be distinguished by the embossed-
letters, “F” and “RI’, on the cam chain tensioners.

CAM CHAIN GUIDE
Two kinds of cam chain guide are used on the respective cam
drive chains.

CAM CHAIN 20-PITCH LENGTH
Pull the chain tight to remove any slack, then using vernier
calipers, measure the 20-pitch length of cam chain. If it
measures more than limit, replace the cam chain.
