OPERATION GUIDELINES
FOLDING FOR TRAVEL
It is essential to follow the correct procedure whenever booms are folded for travel:
• Rotate the platform to its stowed position along side the boom.
• Position the jib parallel to the upper boom (if equipped) and fully retracted.
• Fold the lower boom into the rest, making certain that the boom is accurately centered over the boom
rest before lowering into position. Apply slight down pressure to hold the lower boom against the rest
and prevent bouncing during travel.
• After lower boom is lowered into the rest, fold the upper boom completely against the lower boom.
• Lock upper boom into the rest with the hold-down device
• Lock lower boom into the lower boom rest if a hold-down device is provided.
LEAVING THE JOB SITE
• Place upper and lower boom in stored position for traveling.
• Remove all tools and supplies from platform.
• Position the platform cover in place if one is supplied or ensure platform liner is held in platform.
• Lock upper boom in place with hold down latch or strap.
• Make sure that outriggers are fully retracted.
• Store outrigger pads and wheel chocks.
• Stow all loose tools and equipment.
• Turn off vehicle warning lights.
• To prevent damage be sure that PTO is disengaged before traveling.
• Remember the overall height of the unit.
NOTE: If any problems were encountered during working operation, report them to the proper
person(s) for maintenance and repair.
DRIVE CAREFULLY!
Do not travel with tools or other items stored in the platform. Loose items may
damage the platform or fall on the roadway during road travel.
The upper boom must be completely secured in its saddle before travel. If the
boom is allowed to bounce in its saddle, the fiberglass may craze, shatter and
eventually buckle.
