1.Stoptheengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,
removethekey,andengagetheparkingbrake.
2.Unhooktheseatlatchandtilttheseatup.
3.Lubricateeachendofbothsteeringlinkagerodswitha
spraylubricantoralightoil.
ChangetheGearboxOil
ServiceInterval:Aftertherst50hours—Changeoilin
allthreegearboxhousings.Addoilas
neededuntillevelwithoildrainplug.
Every100hours—Changeoilinallthreegearbox
housings.Addoilasneededuntillevelwithoildrain
plug.thereafter
1.Placethemachineonalevelsurface.
2.Stoptheengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,
removethekey,andengagetheparkingbrake.
3.Removethegearboxanddriveshaftassemblyfromthe
mowerdeck.Retainthehardwareforuselater.
4.Removethelargeoildrainplugonthefrontofeachof
thethreegearboxsectionsanddraintheoil(Figure30).

7.Installthegearboxanddriveshaftassemblytothe
mowerdeck.
8.FillthegearboxwithMobil
®
SHC(synthetic)75W-90
gearlubeoiluntillevelwithoildrain/llplug.
Note:Eachofthegearboxsectionsmustbelled
separately.
Note:Keepthemowerdeckleveltothegroundwhen
llingthegearboxwithoil.Donotllthrgearboxwith
themowerdeckraisedintheserviceposition.
9.ApplyaTeonpipesealanttothe3largeoilplugsand
installthemintothegearbox.

Note:Checktheltersmorefrequentlyiftheoperating
conditionsareextremelydustyorsandy.
RemovingtheFilters
1.Movethespeedcontrollevertotheneutralposition
tostopthemachine.
2.DisengagethePTO,engagetheparkingbrake,stopthe
engine,andwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
3.Releasethelatchesontheaircleanerandpullthe
air-cleanercoverofftheair-cleanerbody(Figure31).
4.Cleantheinsideoftheair-cleanercoverwith
compressedair.
5.Gentlyslidetheprimarylteroutoftheair-cleaner
body(Figure31).
Note:Avoidknockingthelterintothesideofthe
body.
