7.Inspecttheprimarylterfordamagebylookinginto
thelterwhileshiningabrightlightontheoutsideof
thelter.Holesinthelterwillappearasbrightspots.
Ifthelterisdamaged,discardit.
ServicingthePrimaryFilter
•Iftheprimarylterisdirty,bent,ordamaged,replaceit.
•Donotcleantheprimarylter.
ServicingtheSafetyFilter
Replacethesafetylter,nevercleanit.
Important:Neverattempttocleanthesafetylter.
Ifthesafetylterisdirty,thentheprimarylteris
damaged.Replacebothlters.
InstallingtheFilters
Important:Topreventenginedamage,alwaysoperate
theenginewithbothairltersandcoverinstalled.
1.Ifinstallingnewlters,checkeachlterforshipping
damage.Donotuseadamagedlter.
2.Iftheinnerlterisbeingreplaced,carefullyslideitinto
thelterbody(Figure31).
3.Carefullyslidetheprimarylterovertheinnerlter
(Figure31).
Note:Ensurethattheprimarylterisfullyseatedby
pushingonitsouterrimwhileinstallingit.
Important:Donotpressonthesoftinsidearea
ofthelter.
4.Installtheaircleanercoverandsecurethelatches
(Figure31).

1.Movethespeedcontrollevertotheneutralposition
tostopthemachine.
2.DisengagethePTO,engagetheparkingbrake,stopthe
engine,andwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
3.Allowtheenginetocool.
4.Raisethehopper
5.Cleantheareaaroundthedipstick(Figure33).
6.Removethedipstickandwipetheoiloff.
7.Insertthedipstickandpushitallthewaydowninto
thetube.
8.Removethedipstickandreadtheoillevel.
