couldbedangerous.Themechanicalorhydraulic
jacksmaynotbeenoughsupportormay
malfunctionallowingtheunittofall,whichcould
causeinjury.
DoNotrelysolelyonmechanicalorhydraulicjacks
forsupport.Useadequatejackstandsorequivalent
support.
Setneutralpositionasfollows:
1.Stopthemachineandmovethespeed-controlleverto
theneutralposition.
2.DisengagethePTO,engagetheparkingbrake,stopthe
engine,andwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
3.Removetheelectricalconnectionfromtheseatsafety
switch,locateddirectlyinfrontoftheseatswitch
assembly.
4.Theneutraladjustmentmustbemadewiththedrive
wheelsturning.Raisetheframeandplaceonjack
standssothatdrivewheelscanrotatefreely.
5.Temporarilyinstallajumperwireacrosstheterminals
intheconnectorofthewiringharness.
6.Starttheengine.
7.Runtheunitatleast5minuteswiththespeedcontrol
leveratfullforwardspeedtobringhydraulicsystemoil
uptooperatingtemperature.
8.Returnthespeedcontrollevertoneutral(fullrear)
position.
9.Toobtaintheneutralposition,adjusttheleftandright
pumpcontrolrodlinkagesthatconnectthesteering
controltothepumpcontrolarmsuntilthewheelsstop,
orcreepslightlyinreverse(Figure57).
10.Adjusttheleftpumplinkagebyrotatingthetracking
adjustmentknob.
11.Adjusttherightpumplinkagebyusingawrenchto
turnthedoublenutsontheassembly(Figure57)

12.Movethesteeringleverstothereverseposition.While
applyingslightpressuretothelevers,allowthesteering
leverstoreturntoneutral.Thewheelsmuststop
turningorslightlycreepinreverse.
13.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
14.Removethejumperwirefromwireharnessconnector
andplugtheconnectorintoseatswitch.
15.Lowerthemachinefromthejackstands.
AligningthePTODrivePulley
ThePTOdrivepulleyalignmentisnecessaryforanyofthe
followingconditions:
•Theblowerhasbeenremovedorreplaced.
•Theenginemountingboltshavebeenloosenedorthe
enginehasbeenmovedorreplaced.
•Thejackshaftmountingboltshavebeenloosenedorthe
jackshafthasbeenmovedorreplaced.
1.Stopthemachineandmovethespeed-controlleverto
theneutralposition.
2.DisengagethePTO,engagetheparkingbrake,stopthe
engine,andwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
3.Removethefueltankmountingnutsandswingout
thefueltank.
4.Verifythattheblowerisinstalledandtightlysecured.
5.Loosenthefourenginemountingbolts.
6.Unhookthepumpbelttensionspring.
7.Loosenthefourjackshaftmountingbolts.
8.Measuringfromtheblowerpulleyasabaseline,move
theengineandjackshaftuntiltherearsurfaceofall
threepulleysarealignedwithin0.8to1.6mm(1/32
inchto1/16inch)(Figure58).
