1.Disengagethepowertakeoff(PTO),settheparking
brake,turntheignitionkeytooff,andremovethekey.
2.Removegrassclippings,dirt,andgrimefromthe
externalpartsoftheentiremachine,especiallythe
engine.
Important:Youcanwashthemachinewithamild
detergentandwater.Donotpressurewashthe
machine.Avoidexcessiveuseofwater,especially
nearthedrivesystemandengine.Pressure
washingcanforcedirtandwaterintocriticalparts,
suchasspindlebearingsandelectricalswitches.
3.Cleananydirtandchafffromtheoutsideoftheengine
cylinderheadnsandblowerhousing.
4.Checkthebrake;refertoCheckingtheParkingBrake
(page44).
5.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Cleaner(page30).
6.Greasethemachine;refertoLubrication(page28).
7.Changetheengineoil;refertoChangingtheEngine
Oil(page32).
8.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingtheTire
Pressure(page40).
9.Forlong-termstorage,dothefollowing:
A.Addstabilizer/conditioneradditivetothefuelin
thetank.
B.Runtheenginetodistributetheconditionedfuel
throughthefuelsystem(5minutes).
C.Shutofftheengine,allowittocool,anddrainthe
fueltank;refertoDrainingtheFuelTank(page
35),oroperatetheengineuntilitstops.
D.Starttheengineandallowittorununtilitstops.
Repeat,onChokeuntilenginedoesnotstart.
E.Disposeoffuelproperly.Recycleasperlocal
regulations.
Note:Donotstoregasolinewith
stabilizer/conditionerover90days.
10.Removethesparkplug(s)andcheckitscondition;refer
toServicingtheSparkPlug(page34).Withthespark
plug(s)removedfromtheengine,pourtwotablespoons
ofengineoilintothesparkplughole.Nowusethe
startertocranktheengineanddistributetheoilinside
thecylinder.Installthesparkplug(s).Donotinstallthe
wireonthesparkplug(s).
11.Checkandtightenallofthebolts,nuts,andscrews.
Repairorreplaceanypartthatisdamagedordefective.
12.Paintallofthescratchedorbaremetalsurfaces.Paint
isavailablefromyourAuthorizedServiceDealer.
13.Storethemachineinaclean,dry,garageorstorage
area.Removethekeyfromtheignitionswitchand
storeitinamemorableplace.Coverthemachineto
protectitandkeepitclean.
