1.Donotcleanthepaperlter,replaceit(Figure
49).
2.Inspecttheelementfortears,anoilylm,or
damagetotherubberseal.

Donotcleanthesecondarylter,replaceit.
Important:Neverattempttocleanthesecondary
lter.Ifthesecondarylterisdirty,thenthe
primarylterisdamagedandyoushouldreplace
bothlters.
InstallingtheFilters
Important:Topreventenginedamage,always
operatetheenginewithbothairltersandcover
installed.
1.Ifinstallingnewlters,checkeachlterfor
shippingdamage.Donotuseadamagedlter.
2.Ifthesecondarylterisbeingreplaced,carefully
slideitintothelterbody(Figure49).
3.Carefullyslidetheprimarylteroverthe
secondarylter(Figure49).Ensurethatitis
fullyseatedbypushingontheouterrimofthe
lterwhileinstallingit.
Important:Donotpressonthesoftinside
areaofthelter.
4.Installtheaircleanercoverwiththebreathercap
downandrotatesotheretainingclampslockthe
coverinplace(Figure49).

OilType:Detergentoil(APIserviceSG,SH,SJ,or
SL)
CrankcaseCapacity:withalterchange,2.1L(2.2
USqt);withoutalterchange,1.8L(1.9USqt)
Viscosity:Seethetablebelow.

1.DisengagethePTO,movethemotion-control
leverstotheneutral-lockedpositionandsetthe
parkingbrake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition(Figure51).
