air-cleanerbody(Figure61).
Note:Avoidknockingthelterintothesideof
thebody.

2.Removethesafetylter(ifequipped).

3.Inspectthenewlter(s)fordamagebylooking
intothelterwhileshiningabrightlightonthe
outsideofthelter.
Note:Holesinthelterappearasbright
spots.Inspecttheelementfortears,anoily
lm,ordamagetotherubberseal.Ifthelteris
damaged,donotuseit.
4.Ifyouarereplacingthesafetylter,carefully
slidethenewlterintothelterbody(Figure61).
Important:Topreventenginedamage,
alwaysoperatetheenginewithbothair
ltersandcoverinstalled.
5.Carefullyslidethenewprimarylteroverthe
safetylterandensurethatitisfullyseated
bypushingontheouterrimofthelterwhile
installingit.
