•Chargethebatteryinanopen,well-ventilated
area,awayfromsparksandames.Unplugthe
chargerbeforeconnectingordisconnectingthe
battery.Wearprotectiveclothinganduseinsulated
tools.
AccessingtheBattery
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
2.DisengagethePTO,lowerthemowerdeck,and
engagetheparkingbrake.
3.Shutofftheengineandremovethekey.
4.Removethe3socket-headscrewsfromtheleft
console(Figure74).
5.Removethethrottle-leverknob(Figure74).
6.Lifttheleftconsoleupandsetitaside(Figure
74).

Important:Beforeweldingonthemachine,
disconnectthenegativecablefromthebatteryto
preventdamagetotheelectricalsystem.
RemovingtheBattery
WARNING
Batteryterminalsormetaltoolscouldshort
againstmetalmachinecomponentscausing
sparks.Sparkscancausethebatterygasses
toexplode,resultinginpersonalinjury.
•Whenremovingorinstallingthebattery,
donotallowthebatteryterminalstotouch
anymetalpartsofthemachine.
•Donotallowmetaltoolstoshortbetween
thebatteryterminalsandmetalpartsofthe
machine.
WARNING
Incorrectbatterycableroutingcoulddamage
themachineandcablescausingsparks.
Sparkscancausethebatterygassesto
explode,resultinginpersonalinjury.
•Alwaysdisconnectthenegative(black)
batterycablebeforedisconnectingthe
positive(red)cable.
•Alwaysconnectthepositive(red)battery
cablebeforeconnectingthenegative
(black)cable.
