StoringtheBattery
•Servicethebatteryandcablesasfollows:
1.Removethebatteryterminalsfromthe
batteryposts;refertoRemovingtheBattery
(page57).
2.Cleanthebattery,terminals,andpostswith
awirebrushandbaking-sodasolution.
3.Coatthecableterminalsandbatteryposts
withGrafo112Xskin-overgrease(T oroPart
No.505-47)orpetroleumjellytoprevent
corrosion.
4.Ifyouplantostorethemachinemorethan30
days,removethebatteryandchargeitfully.
Note:Slowlychargethebatteryfor24hours
every60daystopreventleadsulfationofthe
battery.
•Storethebatteryinpositiononthemachine.
•Leavethecablesdisconnectedifthebatteryis
storedinthemachine.
•Storethebatteryinacoolatmospheretoavoid
quickdeteriorationofthechargeinthebattery.
•Topreventthebatteryfromfreezing,ensurethat
itisfullycharged.Thespecicgravityofthe
electrolyteinafullychargedbatteryisbetween
1.265to1.299.
PreparingtheMachine

2.Checkandadjusttheairpressureinthetires;
refertoCheckingtheAirPressureintheTires

3.Remove,sharpen,andbalancethemower
blades;refertotheOperator’sManualforyour
mowerdeck.
4.Checkforloosefastenersandtightenthemas
necessary.
5.Lubricateallgreasettingsandapplyoiltopivot
pointsandthetransmissionbypass-valvepins.
Wipecleananyexcesslubricant.
6.Lightlysandandusetouch-uppainton
scratchedorchippedpaint,orrust.Repairany
dentsinthemetalbody.
PreparingtheEngine
1.Changetheengineoilandoillter;referto
ChangingtheEngineOilandFilter(page52).
2.Starttheengineandrunitatidlespeedfor2
minutes.
3.Shutofftheengine.
4.Emptythefuelfromthefueltank,fuellines,
pump,lter,andseparator.
5.Flushthefueltankwithcleandieselfueland
connectallfuellines.
6.Thoroughlycleanandservicetheair-cleaner
assembly;refertoServicingtheAir-Cleaner
Filters(page50).
7.Sealtheair-cleanerinletandtheexhaustoutlet
withweatherproofmaskingtape.
8.Secureallfuel-systemttings.
9.Checktheanti-freezeprotectionlevelofthe
coolingsystemandadjusttheconcentrationof
thecoolantasneededforthecoldestexpected
temperatureinyourarea.
10.Checktheoil-llercapandfuel-tankcapto
ensurethattheyaresecure.
