Chapter 15
Quality of Service
The GPON router allows you to configure the quality of service (QoS) for optimal
throughput and performance when handling differentiated wireless traffic, such as
Voiceover-IP (VoIP), other types of audio, video, streaming media, and traditional IP data.
To configure QoS on the GPON routers, you should set parameters on the transmission
queues for different types of wireless traffic. In normal use, we recommend that you
keep the default values for the GPON routers.
15. 1. Set up QoS for the network
This feature helps the GPON router allocate upstream bandwidth to improve the
network’s overall performance.
To set up QoS for the network:
1. Visit http://tplinkmodem.net or http://192.168.1.1, and log in with the password you
set for the GPON router.
2. Go to Advanced > QoS > Basic Settings.
3. Enable QoS.
4. Enter your total Upstream Bandwidth Limit.
5. Click Save to make the settings effective.
15. 2. Configure Queue Settings
This page allows you to manage your network with queues. With SP algorithm, you
can define packets which is more important and get throught more quickly; with WRR
algorithm, you can allocate quota of bandwith to certain kind of packets.
To add a new queue:
1. Visit http://tplinkmodem.net or http://192.168.1.1, and log in with the password you
set for the GPON router.
2. Go to Advanced > QoS > Queue Settings.
3. Click Add.
