Denial of Service (DoS)
Advanced > Firewall > DoS
The router supports prevention against common denial of service attacks. Malicious
users use denial of service attacks to temporarily or permanently disrupt the availability
of services from a network resource such as your router. Typically, DoS attacks are
achieved by flooding a specific network resource excess and unnecessary requests
which results in the network resource to stop responding or process requests much
slower compared to normal operation due to the excessive and unnecessary requests
received by the DoS attack.
1. Log into your router management page (see “Access your router management page
on page 10).
2. Click on Advanced, click on Firewall, and click then click DoS.
3. Click the DoS Settings drop-down list to select Enable to enable DoS prevention.
4. To save changes to this section, click Save when finished. Commit your changes to the
router by clicking on Apply/Discard Changes in the left-hand menu, and click Apply &
Reboot.
Allow/deny multicast streaming
Advanced > Wireless (2.4GHz or 5GHz)
In some cases, applications require multicast communication (also called IP multicast
which is the delivery of information to a specific group of computers or devices in a
single transmission) typically used in media streaming applications.
1. Log into your router management page (see “Access your router management page
on page 10).
2. Click on Advanced and click on Wireless (2.4GHz or 5GHz), then and click on
Advanced.
3. Next to Multicast-to-Unicast Converter, select the option to enable or disable.
4. To save changes to this section, click Save when finished. Commit your changes to the
router by clicking on Apply/Discard Changes in the left-hand menu, and click Apply &
Reboot.
