5. EtherCAT process data output watchdog - SyncManager2 (optional)
The process data output watchdog supervises the process data transfer from the EherCAT master
towards the VAT valve (OUTPUT buffer data).
Effects of the process data output watchdog if it runs out or if disabled:
Valve can not be controlled any longer and enters the network failure state – see chapter 3.6.2 “Valve
and
sensor configuration”.
• Watchdog runs out
o Valve is not any longer in the OPERATIONAL state and the VAT network failure warning is
active - see chapter 4.1 “Additional EtherCAT warning”.
o See Error LED(2) chapter 3.5.1.2
• Watchdog is disabled
o Bit FIELDBUS DATA VALID in the INPUT buffer is reseted (0)
o VAT network failure warning is active - see chapter 4.1 “Additional EtherCAT warning”.
Settings:
The process data output watchdog (SyncManager2) is normally enabled in the ESI-file from VAT by
default.
The timeout value(s) (100ms) is also a default setting and must just be modified if a more optimized
behaviour is necessary. These default values are set by the EtherCAT slave Controller (ESC) at each
power up.
