6. EtherCAT process data interface (PDI) watchdog (optional)
The PDI watchdog supervises the VAT valve internal communication between the EtherCAT slave
contorller (ESC) and the used application controller.
Effects of the PDI watchdog if it runs out:
The PDI watchdog run out information is available at the bit 1 of the ESC register 0x0110
Settings:
The process data interface watchdog is normally enabled by default.
The timeout value(s) (100ms) is also a default setting and must just be modified if a more optimized
behaviour is necessary. These default values are set by the EtherCAT slave Controller (ESC) at each
power up.
If the timing must be optimized do it as described in the following procedure.
1. Go to “Advanced Settings”
2. Set the green check mark and modify the default value of 1000 (100ms)
By default the check marks are not set and the values are grey highlighted. The means the values are
not changed manually or by the ESI-File.
The PDI watchdog is enabled if the PDI watchdog value is unequal ‘0’.
