SETUP THE GSM INTERCOM FOR DATA COMMUNICATION APN
The GSM intercom can be setup for data communication. In order for data communication the SIM card used in the GSM must also
have a data allowance setup, this should be done by the user/installer when choosing a network provider (O
2
, EE, Vodafone etc.)
to use.
There are two purposes for setting up the GSM for data communication:
• The rst is to allow a user to be able to remotely monitor the GSM’s events online using the web browser based events
application or remotely monitor the GSM’s events via either of the two mobile apps - the Videx SMS Wizard (for
administrators) and the Videx SMS Wizard PRO (for installers/engineers), also see the GSM moble apps notes on page 67.
• The second purpose is to allow for the programming ‘over the air’ option so that a user/installer can remotely program the
GSM intercom using the GSMSK PC software (the PC software can still be used to program the GSM intercom, but the PC
or laptop is not directly linked to it via the USB or RS485 connections).
The following programming command can be used to store the network provider’s APN details to the GSM intercom.
1111APN”apn”,”username”,”password”? Store the APN details of the network provider to the GSM, also send conrmation
to the sender, where the apn, username and password are the details provided by
the SIM card network provider, these details can usually be found on the network
providers website or doing an online search.
Example: Store the APN details for an O
2
pay and go SIM to the GSM module, where the the apn = payandgo.o2.co.uk,
username = payandgo and password = password, the following message can be sent to the GSM intercom:
1111APN”payandgo.o2.co.uk”,”payandgo”,”password”?
With the inclusion of the ? the GSM intercom will reply with the following text:
APN=payandgo.o2.co.uk
payandgo
password

STORE A USERNAME & PASSWORD FOR EACH GSM MODULE FOR ONLINE EVENTS PAS
When using the online events application each GSM module that is setup through the application requires it’s own username and
password. The username and password is created by the user, following the online setup steps (via the website www.videxevents.
co.uk), when adding a new GSM to the list of GSM modules. Each GSM module on the list can have their events monitored remotely
