5.3.2.12 Modes
This section describes
the
modes available when
the
VISUAL
100
is
set for ANSI mode
operation. Unlike
the
control sequences associated with ANSI mode commands,
the
control sequences associated with modes
do
not
usually cause an action
on
the
display
but
condition how
the
terminal will respond
to
commands.
Many
of
the
modes described
in
this section are also selected and changeable in SET-UP
mode.
Thus
the
mode may be set
or
reset from
the
host
or
by
the
operator
in
SET-UP
mode.
Table
3-1
details each SET-UP mode feature
that
is
changeable from
the
host via set/reset
mode control sequences.
Each mode has
two
possible states; set
or
reset. A single control sequence may set
one
or
many modes,
or
reset
one
or
many modes. Some
of
the. modes described
in
this section are
specified
in
the
ANSI X3.64 standard, and some are private modes
that
have been added
to
enhance
the
operational capabilities
of
the
terminal.
The
control sequence
format
for setting/resetting modes will vary slightly depending
on
whether
the
mode
is
ANSI X3.64 specified,
or
private per
the
following.
