8. Route the open end of the exhaust tubing to a suitable exhaust vent.
9. Connect electric cables to the roughing pump (see page 241).

To connect cables:
1. Connect the relay cable from the roughing pump’s d.c. connector to the pump
connector on the mass spectrometer’s rear panel.
2. Connect the roughing pump power cord to the main power source.
