REMOVING THE VALVES AND VALVE SPRINGS
The following procedure applies to all of the valves, valve
springs and related components.
1. Remove the parts below from the intake side.
• Valve cotter “1”
• Valve spring retainer “2”
• Valve spring “3”
• Valve stem seal “4”
• Intake valve “5”
Remove the parts using the valve spring compres-
sor “6”.
2. Remove the parts below from the exhaust side.
• Valve cotter “1”
• Valve spring retainer “2”
• Valve spring “3”
• Valve spring seat “4”
• Exhaust valve “5”
Remove the parts using the valve spring compres-
sor “6”.
CHECKING THE VALVES AND VALVE SPRINGS
The following procedure applies to all of the valve and
valve springs.
1. Measure:
• Valve stem length “a”
• Valve head diameter “b”

Do not compress the valve spring more than neces-
sary.
