REMOVING THE CAMSHAFT AND VALVE
LIFTERS
The following procedure applies to all of the camshaft and
valve lifters.
1. Remove:
• Camshaft “1”
TIP
• Since there are two types of camshafts, refer to the illus-
tration and check the camshaft gear mark.
• Remove the camshaft “1” when the camshaft gear mark
“a” and the crankshaft gear mark “b” are aligned as
shown.
2. Remove:
• Intake valve lifters “1”
• Exhaust valve lifters “2”
CHECKING THE CAMSHAFT
1. Check:
• Camshaft
Cracks/damage/wear  Replace.

Mark so as not to confuse the valve lifters when
installing.
