Never use solvents on internal brake com-
ponents as they will cause the brake caliper
piston dust seal and brake caliper piston
seal to swell and distort.
Whenever a brake caliper is disassembled,
replace the brake caliper piston dust seal
and brake caliper piston seal.

INSTALLING THE REAR BRAKE CALIPER
1. Install:
Rear brake caliper bracket
Rear wheel axle
T
IP
Do not install the brake pad supports, brake
pads, brake pad insulator, brake pad shims,
and brake caliper.
Align the slot a of the rear wheel sensor hous-
ing 1 with the projection b of the rear brake
caliper bracket 2, and then assemble them.
Fit the brake torque stop pin 3 on the swing-
arm into the slot c on the rear brake caliper
bracket.
After assembling the rear wheel sensor hous-
ing and the rear brake caliper bracket, make
sure that the projection d on the housing is
aligned with the projection e on the bracket.
NOTICE

Make sure there are no foreign materials in
the wheel hub. Foreign materials cause dam-
age to the inner sensor rotor and wheel sen-
sor.
2. Tighten:
Rear wheel axle 1
Rear wheel axle pinch bolts
▼▼▼ ▼▼▼▼▼ ▼▼▼ ▼▼▼ ▼▼▼ ▼▼▼
a. Tighten the rear wheel axle 1 with the
damper rod holder (24 mm) 2.
b. In the order pinch bolt 3 pinch bolt 4
pinch bolt 3, tighten each bolt to 16 Nm (1.6
m·kgf, 11 ft·lbf) without performing temporary
tightening.
