• Align the projections “a” on the crankshaft jour-
nal bearings “1” with the notches “b” in the
crankcase.
• Be sure to install each crankshaft journal bear-
ing in its original place.
2. Install:
• Timing chains “1”
(onto the crankshaft sprocket)
• Crankshaft “2”

IP
• Pass the timing chain through the timing chain
cavity.
• To prevent the timing chain from falling into the
crankcase, secure it with a wire.

INSTALLING THE BALANCER SHAFT
1. Install:
• Balancer shaft journal upper bearings
(into the upper crankcase)
• Balancer shaft journal lower bearings
(into the lower crankcase)

• Align the projections “a” on the balancer shaft
journal bearings “1” with the notches “b” in the
crankcase.
• Be sure to install each balancer shaft journal
bearing in its original place.
2. Install:
• Balancer shaft “1”

IP
Align the punch mark “a” in the crankshaft with
the punch mark “b” in the balancer shaft.
