2.5 Remote Unit
The Remote Unit is a small, wall or ceiling mountable unit that amplifies the downlink signals for
transmission over a wireless link, and amplifies the uplink wireless signals for transmission over the
optical link. It is connected to the Primary or Secondary Hub via optical fiber. It defines the final cell
coverage, communicates via optical link to Hubs, and receives and amplifies signals from smart
phones, tablets, laptops, and other hand-held devices.
