TUNING THE CONTROL LOOPS 6-11
SB1391 Hardware and Setup Guide - Document revision no. 1.14
6.3. Current Loop
The current control algorithm consists of a proportional-integral (PI) filter, set by the following
parameters:
D4
Proportional gain (P). Maximum value is 20,000.
D3
Integral gain (I). Maximum value is 12,000. The integrator bandwidth is equal to
D3/20 [Hz].

6.3.1. Current Loop Tuning
The following instructions for adjusting the current loop are approximate. The actual values
required will depend on the type of amplifier and motor used.
Action
1. Set the Gain (D4) to 10, the Integrator Gain (D3) to 0, and the Current (command) to
10% (of the peak value).
2.
Click the start button in the Scope toolbar and the Go button in the Current loop
adjustment dialog box. Wait for the response to be collected and displayed on the
scope. To adjust the scale of the signal, click the Adjust Vertical Scale tool button .
3. Watch the current response. Start increasing or decreasing D4, doubling the value each
time, (i.e., 20, 40, 80, etc. or -10, -20, -40, etc.) until the response looks similar to
FIGURE 6-7.
