Chapter 2
Maintenance and Service
If you need assistance with service procedures, contact
Hot-Line Technical Service (see Contacting Advanced
Instruments). For eciency, have the model and serial
number from the bottom of the instrument available
when you speak to a technician.
If you need to send the Anoxomat for servicing, a
Hot-Line™ Technical Service representative will provide
you with an RMA number. Units are not accepted for
service without an RMA number.
WARNING: Always unplug the power cord
before opening or removing the instrument
cover. You could be exposed to electric shock,
excessive temperatures, or mechanical
hazards.
NOTICE: A discharge of static electricity from
contact with the human body or other
conductor can damage system boards or
static-sensitive devices. Never perform
internal maintenance without following
recommended electrostatic discharge (ESD)
protection procedures.
2.1 Routine maintenance
This chapter describes the procedure for maintaining
your instrument. Make sure the Anoxomat is unplugged
when you clean or maintain it.
Maintenance must be performed on a regular basis to
conserve the Anoxomat's performance. Follow the
recommendations set forth below to properly maintain
the instrument:
• Never allow jar tubes to hang loose when unattached,
as the system always tests all jar tubes to check for
attached jars. Instead, place unused tubes in the
holder on the side of the system
• Check the condition of the jar tube fittings and replace
all items that are visibly worn.
• The housing of the Anoxomat can be cleaned with a
damp cloth only (never too wet). Isopropyl alcohol or
diluted bleach may be used (see Maintaining Jars).
• Visual checks for cracks and bends should be made
regularly on all tubing and external cabling. In case
of damage, new tubing and external cabling should
be ordered and replaced immediately. Use only
replacement parts from Advanced Instruments or an
authorized distributor (see Replacement Parts).
• Install current software updates on the instrument.
2.2 Maintaining jars
It is recommended that Anoxomat jars be stored
between 0˚C and 50˚C.
It is advisable to perform the following maintenance
every three months on the jars:
• Spray a little PTFE
1
spray in the snap-shut coupling to
keep the coupling lubricated.
• Clean and apply acid-free petroleum jelly on the
rubber O-ring in the lid of the standard jars only. Clean
and leave the seal dry (do not apply petroleum jelly )
in the ergonomic jar lids.
To be certain that the jars are maintained correctly and
regularly, a small box with necessities to maintain all jars
working with the Anoxomat (standard jars or Ergonomic
jars) is available. This kit includes 10 replacement snap
shut couplings (these items cannot be cleaned, but can
be lubricated with Teflon spray), tools, cleanser and
lubricant. The Jar Maintenance Toolkit (Product No.
MT2000) is available from Anoxomat.
