Anoxomat
®
III Service Guide
Error Possible cause/Suggested action
Appears during
a microaerophilic
recipe.
Cause: Catalyst-activity test failure A
catalyst was mistakenly put in the
jar.
Action: Remove catalyst and restart
the recipe
Insucient H in the
bottle mixture.
The mixture must contain at least 5%
H.
Insucient O in the
bottle mixture.
Open the jar.
If the jar was opened to add plates,
it must be left open long enough to
ensure that normal O levels are
restored. If a jar is closed up with a
depleted O level, then the catalyst
activity will not be detected as
functional.
Unable to maintain a
minimum gas
pressure at the
instrument when the
distance from the
bottle to the
instrument is more
than 20 meters.
Relocate the gas bottle or increase
the supply line size to reduce
pressure drop. Consider using an
independent low-stage regulator
near the instrument.
NOTE: All gas connections should be
made by qualified personnel
and meet local and federal
requirements.
3.9 Jar closed error
Error Possible cause/Suggested action
The cycle was started
with a jar containing
partial vacuum.
Jar is not
connected
(connection is
not used)
The Anoxomat
has detected a
vacuum
condition in
the jar. The jar
has been
partly
processed by
the Anoxomat
1. Disconnect the jar.
2. Equalize the pressure to
atmospheric by depressing and
holding the small cup inside the
lid fitting.
3. Pull the outer ring of the snap-
shut coupling downward.
4. Reconnect the jar.
3.10 Jar connection errors
Error Possible cause/Suggested action
No jar is connected to
the jar tube.
Connect the jar and restart the cycle.
If a jar is connected. Cause: Leak in the jar.
Action: Disconnect the jar and
examine it for signs of damage, such
as cracks under the clamp rim, chips
along the rim of the base, or cracks
on the bottom of the jar. If there are
any signs of damage, then the jar
must be discarded and replaced.
Cause: Leak in the jar tube or fitting.
Action:
1. Clean and lubricate the coupling
next to the jar tube connection.
2. Replace the coupling on the jar
lid.
3. Replace the O-ring on the jar lid.
Cause: The pump is not drawing a
sucient vacuum.
Action: Check to see if the vacuum
pump is withdrawing good vacuum:
1. Go to the Manual Test
2. Leave the gas and jar valves
closed.
3. Open the vacuum valve and
enable the pump.
If the pressure does not quickly
drop below 300 mBar, then the
pump is not drawing a sucient
vacuum.
4. Turn o the pump and close
the vacuum valve.
5. Exit the Manual Test.
6. Clean out the vacuum pump
chamber.
7. Measure the width of the
vanes and replace them if they
are less than 12 mm.
8. If the pressure quickly drops
below 300 mBar, then close
the Vacuum valve.
9. Turn o the pump and
observe whether or not the
pressure remains stable.
If the pressure rises quickly, then
there is a leak in one or more
valves.
10. Clean the valves and repeat
the testing.
