8.4 Electro-mechanical problems
Table 11 provides troubleshooting guidance for electro-mechanical issues.
NOTE: See Appendix G for a system schematic.

Symptom Possible cause Suggested action
No power, or abrupt loss of
power (no display)
Power availability Temporarily unplug the power cord from its wall outlet and
replace it with a known working lamp or other appliance. If no
power is present, have the power restored.
Power connection to grid Unplug the power cord from the power cord socket. Measure the
AC voltage supplied at the end of the cord that will be connected
to the product.
Power connection to product Make sure the power cord is firmly plugged into the socket on the
back of the product.
Blown fuse Unplug the power cord from the power entry module. Use a small
screwdriver to pry out the fuse holder. Visually check the two 5
mm x 20 mm fuses for a blown fuse. If there is any doubt, test the
fuses with a continuity checker or ohmmeter, or simply replace
them (see Replacement Procedure 133072PM in Appendix I).
Also check the values marked on the fuses to make sure that they
are the correct rating for the product.
If a fuse was blown and a replacement fuse also blows, contact
Advanced Instrument Hot-Line Technical Service for assistance.
Power supply Check for 12 V DC/16 Amp on the power distribution board.
Circuit board connections Check that all connectors on the circuit board are properly
connected and that there are no damaged wires. Firmly insert all
connectors. If wiring is damaged, contact Advanced Instrument
Hot-Line Technical Service for assistance.
Unable to identify cause Contact Advanced Instrument Hot-Line Technical Service for
assistance.
Sample probe open error Sample probe component failed Replace sample probe (p/n 133060R)
Block probe open error Block probe component failed Replace block probe (p/n 133058R)
