Theory of
Operation
This
section
describes
the
general overall
operation of
the 4263B
and the
operation of
each
assembly
.
Overall
Measurement
Theory
The
4263B measures
the
impedance
of
the
Device
Under
T
est
(DUT)
by
measuring
vector
voltage
to current
ratio
.
A
vector
is
a
value
which
consists
of
a
magnitude
and
a
phase
.
The
impedance
of
the
Device
Under
T
est
(DUT)
is
determined
by
the
vector
ratio
between
the
voltage
across
the
DUT
and
the
current
owing
thorough
it.
The
4263B
essentially
consists
of
a
signal
source
,
a
vector
voltmeter
,
and
a
vector
current
meter
.

If
the
ammeter
measures
i

ampere
when
the
source
voltage
is
e

,
the DUT's
impedance
Zx
is
expressed
by:
Zx
=
e

i
x
Note
In this chapter
, we will
focus only on
impedance
measurement. The other
parameters, such as L, C, and R, are derived mathematically from the measured
impedance value
.
