4. Commissioning and Operation

Starting the Engine

Do not start engine in closed rooms!
Exhaust fumes contain carbon mon-
oxide which acts toxic when inhaled.
Keep feet away from mowing knife.
Open the fuel tap (B/13).
Move the choke lever (B/5) to position
“CHOKE”

Do not operate the choke in hot tempera-
tures or when the engine is hot.
Flick the engine shut-off switch (C/3) to
operating position (“I”).
Move the speed control lever (C/9) to a
central position (between idling speed and
full throttle.
Pull the clutch lever (C/5) and lock it with
the pawl (C/6) (start position).

The operator’s position during starting is
at the handlebars to the right and behind
the cutter bar or any other attachment.
l
Keep out of the danger zone (in particu-
lar children).
Pull the starter rope on the handle (B/7)
until the starter clutch engages. Then pull
hard and fast to pull the rope all the way
out. After the start, let the rope glide back.
Do not let it snap back.
If the choke was operated, move it back
to its original ”open” position as soon as the
engine has warmed up and is running
smoothly.
