4.14 IP-DECT Base Stations
4.14.1 Detailed description
The IP-DECT system combines IP and DECT technologies to provide a wireless telephony solution on
IP networks.
Unlike DECT base stations, IP-DECT base stations are connected to the IP network and use the SIP
protocol to communicate with the OXO Connect. However, DECT handsets connect to the IP-DECT
base stations via radio links complying with the DECT protocol.
Supported IP-DECT base stations are: 4080 IP-DECT, 8340 Smart IP-DECT and 8340-C Smart IP-
DECT.
Installation, configuration and maintenance of IP-DECT system is described in the following ALE
International documentation:
• IP-DECT base stations installation manual
• IP-DECT base stations administrator manual
• IP-DECT base stations advanced data manual
• IP-DECT base stations CE manual for SIP connectivity
• IP-DECT base station Site Survey Kit (SSK) deployment manual
Note:
For any installation, a preliminary study must be carried out using coverage tools. The bases are then installed
according to the results of this study.
4.14.1.1 Connection and power
Usually the cabinets will be fixed to existing walls in the positions determined by the Site Survey. Do
not mount the IP-DECT base station to a metal wall
The power for the IP-DECT base station is supplied via the Ethernet cable, PoE (IEEE 802.3af).
• Voltage at the DAP: minimum 36 Volts, maximum 57 Volts
• Connector: Standard RJ45 connector, using the spare wires pins (wires).
