5. Heating Element Does Not Heat or Burner Does Not Ignite
Heating element
does not heat or
burner does not
ignite
Is there
improper or
inadequate
exhaust or
make-up air?
Refer to
Installation
Manual for
exhaust and
make-up air
requirements.
Are there
blown fuses
or tripped
circuit
breakers?
Check fuses
or circuit
breakers.
Is drying
timer not
selected or
inoperative?
Set drying
timer or
replace if
necessary.
Is "No Heat"
selected on
control?
Select
temperature
option.
Is control
relay
inoperative?
Test relay and
replace if
inoperative.
Is thermistor
inoperative?
Test thermistor by
removing harness from
thermistor terminals.
Check resistance across
terminals, should read
approximately 50,000
Ohms at 77°F.
Resistance should
decrease with a
temperature increase.
Replace thermistor if
inoperative.
Electric Models:
Are heating
elements or
contactors
inoperative?
Check heat
contactors
and elements.
Replace if
necessary.
Gas Models:
Is gas supply
insufficient?
Open partially closed gas
shut-off valve, or correct
low gas pressure. Check
inlet pressure and
compare to pressure
specified on serial plate.
If pressure cannot be
obtained, contact gas
supplier.

Gas Models:
Are orifices
incorrect?
Tumbler is equipped
for type of gas
specified
on serial plate at
0-2,000 feet altitude.
