BOOM BARRIER BV5868 99
ASSEMBLY
4.3 INSTALLING A RBN8 BOOM
1. Gently pull the damper into the boom profile (Fig. 20). The damper length should be
200mm less than the boom profile length (damper is pulled towards one end of the
profile until stop).
2. Attach the boom to the barrier (Fig. 21). Place the enclosure base on the barrier mounting
plate (1).
Y
ATTENTION, The DOWN marking arrows must follow the boom closing direction.
3. Then install the attachment bracket (2) and insert the boom (3) without completely
tightening the screws; after that tighten the screws completely.
Y
Never perform the assembly / disassembly on ahorizontally positioned boom.
4. Install the enclosure covers (Fig. 22) by securing the side covers with screws.
Y
ATTENTION, The two side covers must be installed so that the arrows on UP
marking follow the boom opening direction (facing upwards).
5. Install the boom end cap (Fig. 23).
4.4 MANUAL UNLOCKING
To unlock the barrier, alever located inside the barrier cabinet is used. To perform the unlocking,
turn the lever upwards until it stops (Fig. 24), after which it is possible to open and close the boom
manually. To return the barrier to the locked position, turn the lever down to the end (Fig. 25).
Y
Use manual unlocking only during installation, maintenance, or in case of malfunction or power
supply failure. Be careful when using the manual barrier unlocking, as the boom may travel
quickly due to loosened, poorly balanced or broken spring. When unlocked, the boom should
be moved at slow speed!
When performing unlocking / locking operations, the barrier must be disconnected from the
mains to prevent it from setting in motion by arandom command.
Y
Never use manual unlocking without aboom installed.
4.5 BALANCING THE BOOM
The boom is correctly balanced when it remains still at an angle of 45° when the barrier is un-
locked, the force required to lift the boom from its horizontal position and the force required to
lower the boom from its vertical position being approximately equal.
Y
Balancing must be carried out by two installers. One of them should move the boom and control
its movement, the other one should adjust the spring.
Ensure that the boom — balance spring system is well balanced:
• Unlock the barrier (see sub-section ‘4.4. Manual unlocking’).
• Lift the boom completely (to open the barrier). Loosen the spring nut (Fig. 26).
• Move the boom to 45° position and rotate the spring (Fig. 27) until the boom remains still in
this position.
• Make sure the balancing is complete by moving the boom from its end positions to the
middle position several times. Tighten the spring nut (Fig. 26).
