12.8 Brake system (all versions)

12.8.1 General visual inspection of the brake system
Perform the general visual inspection at regular intervals, see section Maintenance schedule, page
298.
Test points:
Piping, hose lines and coupling heads must not be externally damaged or rusted.
Connecting rods, e.g. on fork heads, must be properly secured, easy to move, and not worn out.
Ropes and cables
must be properly run
must have no visible cracks
may not be knotted.
Check the brake cylinder piston stroke.
If the visual inspection, function or action testing of the brake system
shows any signs of deficiencies, have a thorough inspection of all
components performed immediately at a specialist workshop.
DANGER
Only specialist workshops or recognised brake service
companies may perform adjustment and repair work on the
brake system.
