Adjusting Analyzer Controls for Normal Operation
Setting the Sample Gas Flow Rate and Sample
Response Time
Sample response time is determined by switching the analyzer’s Flow
Control mode from ‘2’ (zero) to ‘0’ (auto) and recording the time it takes
the analyzer to display the first reading after the switch.
The Metering Valve (or Aspirator Drive Air Regulator, if used) is used to
control the sample gas flow rate through the system. A good sample flow
rate (2.5 L/min (5 SCFH)) will ensure the measurement response time is
approximately 15 seconds. To obtain a response time within this range,
adjust the Metering Valve (or Aspirator Drive Air Regulator, if used) to the
appropriate sample pressure listed in the Final “As-Built” drawings.
Check the sample response time while observing the output concentra-
tion changes on the Gas Calibration dialog box. If the sample response
time is adequate (first response after a Zero is approximately 15 seconds),
no further adjustment is necessary for a Sample Line of less than 10
metres.
The sample response time may vary, depending on Sample Line
length.
You can also use the Rotameter to set the sample gas flow rate (arrow
on the three-way valve handle must be facing downward while setting
the flow).
After the flow rate has been set, switch the Bypass Valve to Bypass
by turning it 180° (arrow on valve handle facing upward). This will
ensure no damage is done to the Rotameter during normal operation.
