1 Application and Operating Principle
The AVL DiTEST Speed 2000 is a speed meter especially developed for exhaust gas testing. It can
record the speed of any diesel or gasoline engine:
The AVL DiTEST Speed 2000 can be connected to any exhaust gas tester with a speed input
connection.
The AVL DiTEST Speed 2000 is suitable for both constant and dynamic speed curves.
It is not necessary to specify the number of cylinders.
The AVL dual sensor is the heart of the system.

The strong permanent sensor magnet makes it easy to mount on the engine.
Automatic function monitoring takes place by means of a multi-color LED.
The LED makes it possible to easily find the appropriate site for recording the speed.
The AVL DiTEST Speed 2000 system is based on the evaluation of two signals:
The structure-borne signal of the engine
The air-borne signal
The system records both signals simultaneously. The most suitable signal is automatically used
for the speed evaluation.
Strong plastic housing
Magnetic base with accelerometer
(for recording structure
-borne noise)
LED (red/yellow/green, speed detection control)
Microphone (for recording air-
borne noise)
