Allow at least 15 seconds after attaching the sensor till the system has recognized and
captured the idle speed. The sensor-LED and the status-LED on the measurement unit will
turn to yellow.
• A speed of more than 4000 rpm needs to be maintained constantly in order to determine the
upper calibration speed.
Please wait a few seconds longer while the analysis software of the AVL DiTEST SPEED 2000
recognizes and captures the increased speed level. The sensor-LED and the status-LED on
the measurement unit will turn to green.
5.3 Examples for Attaching the AVL Dual Sensor
The AVL Dual Sensor has a magnetic foot, and must therefore be mounted to a metal part of the
engine. The speed recording is best ensured when the engine vibrations are not damped by rubber
components between the engine and the mounting point (engine suspensions).
You can attach the AVL Dual Sensor when the engine is off or in idle. The LED on the dual sensor
tells you whether or not the selected attachment point is suitable, as soon as the engine is idling (see
Section 5.4).
If the AVL Dual Sensor is attached to the engine when idling:
• Observe the warning message at the beginning of the operating manual
• The LED on the AVL Dual Sensor indicates after 3 to 10 seconds whether
the AVL DiTEST Speed 2000 has recorded the speed (see Section 5.4)
Example for attaching the AVL Dual Sensor:
see page 73.
5.4 Functional indications using status LEDs, in detail
The functions of the AVL DiTEST Speed 2000 are indicated using LEDs.
− One LED (red/yellow/green) is located on the AVL DiTEST Speed 2000
− One LED (red/yellow/green) is located on the AVL dual sensor
