2.1 Basic Information
The main application of the Fast Front End Modules is in the area of
engine test beds, as well as in all types of vehicle testing.
To meet the growing demands of modern data acquisition, systems
have been designed which acquire the data directly where they are
measured and which output process data where they are needed.
For example, the actuators can be connected directly to the
F-FEM-DAC.
The device has four analog channels which are electrically isolated
from each other and from the processor unit. Each analog output
channel can be used either as voltage output or current output.
Furthermore, two frequencies can be output, which are independent of
each other and which correspond to an analog value (PWM) (with
PUMA Open V1.2 and higher!). Both frequency outputs can be used as
signal splitter substitutes or as numerically generated frequency
F-OUT (e.g. output of distance pulses to an engine electronic system).
The following possibilities exist:
n Generation of an RS422-compatible two-track signal with zero
track of an active dyno. (Differential signals U0+
, U1+, U2+),
substitute for signal splitter.
n One freely programmable push-pull output each for FOUT1 and
FOUT2.
2.2 Performance Data
n 3 interfaces for IEEE1394
Analog outputs:
n 4 electrically isolated channels
n 16 bit resolution; 0.005 % error (typical)
n + 11 V and + 22 mA per channel
n Adjustment coefficients in the EEPROM
n Synchronization in the F-FEM network via a VCXO
Frequency outputs (not with PUMA Open V1.1!):
n 2 electrically isolated outputs
n Generation of 2-track and zero-track signals
n RS422-compatible output signals
n Connection of 2 F-FEM-DIO modules with 16 digital inputs and 16
digital outputs each
