BESTlogicPlus BE1-11m
Caution
Always remove the BE1-11m from service prior to changing or
modifying the active logic scheme. Attempting to modify a logic
scheme while the BE1-11m is in service could generate unexpected or
unwanted outputs.
Modifying a logic scheme in BESTCOMSPlus does not automatically
make that scheme active in the BE1-11m. The modified scheme must
be uploaded into the BE1-11m. See the paragraphs on Sending and
Retrieving Logic Schemes.
Operational settings are not included in the default logic scheme. Each
element, target, pickup setting, timing setting, etc. will have to be
enabled and programmed separately using the Settings Explorer in
BESTCOMSPlus.
Overview of Default Logic Scheme
The default logic is shown in Figures 52 through 56 and described in the following paragraphs. The
default logic scheme provides the IEEE motor protection thermal algorithm combined with logic that
determines the motor state. The default logic includes elements and features available in the base option
of the BE1-11m.
RTD protection biases the thermal model and provides backup protection. Optional restraint based
differential protection (87) is available as well as multiple basic instantaneous overcurrent protection
elements. Included protective elements are 50-1, 50-2, 50-3, 50-4, 50-5, 48, 49TC, 37, 32, 27P-1, 27P-2,
and 66 for motor protection functions such as thermal protection, short-circuit, ground fault, unbalance,
undervoltage (two levels), overload, load loss, jam, and time between starts. Emergency start is available,
as well as time based and thermal based start inhibits.
A settings example additionally includes optional protection elements. Refer to the Settings Calculation
Examples chapter for more information.
Functions such as breaker failure and virtual breaker control features are not enabled in this scheme.
However, these features can be activated through BESTCOMSPlus.
