Using the Line Trigger Wait Signal with the Trigger Width Exposure Mode
When the camera is set for the trigger width exposure mode, the rise of the line trigger wait signal
is based on the ExposureOverlapTimeMaxAbs parameter setting and on the end of readout for the
current line acquisition. This functionality is illustrated in Fig. 30.
If you are operating the camera in the trigger width exposure mode, you must set an
ExposureOverlapTimeMaxAbs value in order to control the Line Trigger Wait signal. You can do this
in either of two ways: If you are parameterizing the camera with Basler pylon you must set the
ExposureOverlapTimeMaxAbs parameter and if you are parameterizing the camera via direct
register access you must set the value of the Exposure Overlap Time Max Raw register.
The correct parameter values depend on the method that you choose to avoid overtriggering:
You can avoid overtriggering the camera by always doing the following:
 Monitoring the camera’s line trigger wait signal and using the ExLSTrig signal to start exposure
only when the Line Trigger Wait signal is high. You must set ExposureOverlapTimeMaxAbs to
represent the shortest exposure time you intend to use. Using the shortest time helps you to
avoid the "illegal" situation shown in Fig. 24 on page 74. For example, assume that you will be
using trigger width exposure mode and that you intend to use the ExLSTrig signal to vary the
exposure time in a range from 15 µs to 20 µs. In this case you would set the camera’s
ExposureOverlapTimeMaxAbs to 15 µs.
If your shortest intended exposure time is longer than the maximum settable
ExposureOverlapTimeMaxAbs parameter value, you can remove the parameter’s upper
parameter limits (see Section 8.3 on page 106) to extend the overlap and achieve a higher line
