(1) If the chip detectors and external filter are normal
and there is no signs of an internal failure, operate the
helicopter for 5 hours. Examine the chip detectors and external
filter again. If you do not find metal particles on the chip detector
or in the external filter, the transmission is satisfactory for
service. If you do find metal particles on the chip detector or in
the external filter, remove the transmission for an overhaul.
Clean the oil lines and replace the oil cooler. Make an entry in
the component record to show that the reason for removal was
an overtorque.
c. At 25 hours after an overtorque, do a thorough visual
inspection of the systems that follow:
(1) Main rotor yoke assembly.
(2) Main rotor mast.
(3) Transmission top case.
(4) Pylon fluid mounts.
(5) Cabin roof at the transmission lift link attach points.
(6) Transmission restraint attachment at the stop
mounts, support and the cabin roof shell and beam.
(7) Transmission electric chip detectors.
(8) Tail rotor hub, blades and attachments.
(9) Swashplate and lever assembly.
(10) Drive hub, drive link and idler link assemblies.
(11) Tail rotor driveshafts, couplings and bearings.
2. When an overtorque is more than 115%, do the steps that
follow:
Chapter 62 a. Inspect the main rotor yokes and blades in accordance
with BHT-430-CR&O-2 and Chapter 62. Pay particular attention
to blade skins for distortion or debonding.
