•Pitchrestraintspringassemblies
•Stopttingassemblies
a.Ifsignsofarcingorburningarevisibleonacomponent,discardthe
component.
b.Ifnosignsofarcingorburningarevisibleonthecomponents,the
componentsareserviceable.
4.Ifarcburnsarefoundinthetransmissionassembly,dothefollowing:
a.Removetheengine-to-transmissiondriveshafts.
b.AttachaTHISCOMPONENTWASREMOVEDFROMSERVICE
BECAUSEOFALIGHTNINGSTRIKEtagontheengine-to-transmission
driveshafts.
NOTE
RefertoGeneralInformationLetter(IL)GEN-04-98fortheappli-
cableshippinginformationandtoobtainaReturnMaterialAutho-
rization(RMA)number.
c.Sendtheengine-to-transmissiondriveshaftstoBellforfurther
inspectionandrepair.

1.Ifalightningstrikecauseddamagetothetailrotorblades,dothe
following:
a.Removeandcleaneachtailrotorblade.
NOTE
Burnmarksonthetailrotorbladesmaybeverysmall.
b.Examineeachtailrotorbladeforsignsofarcingandburninginthetip
areaandinsidediameterofthebladeboltbushings.
c.Ifatailrotorbladeshowssignsofarcing,dothefollowing:
(1)AttachaTHISCOMPONENTWASREMOVEDFROMSERVICE
BECAUSEOFALIGHTNINGSTRIKEtagonthetailrotorblade.
(2)Sendthetailrotorbladetoanapprovedfacilityforfurtherinspection
andrepair.
2.Ifalightningstrikecauseddamagetothetailrotorhubassemblies,
dothefollowing:
a.Removeandcleaneachtailrotorhubassembly.
b.Examineeachtailrotorhubassemblyforsignsofarcingandburning.
c.Ifatailrotorhubassemblyshowssignsofarcingorburning,discard
thetailrotorhubassembly.
