Do you have a question about the BIO-MED DEVICES CROSSVENT-3+ and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Crossvent-3+ is an intensive care/transport ventilator designed for both adult and pediatric patients. It is a time-cycled, volume or pressure-limited ventilator that provides controlled, assist/control, SIMV (Synchronized Intermittent Mandatory Ventilation), and CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) modes.

Function Description:

The ventilator delivers gas (air, oxygen, or a blended mixture) to the patient circuit. An internal pressure regulator maintains a constant output pressure of approximately 20 psi, which is used for both patient gas delivery and pneumatic signals. Gas flows through a pilot valve to an electronically encoded flow valve, which controls the flow rate based on the FLOW control setting. The inspiratory time determines the duration of gas flow, and the tidal volume is calculated by multiplying the on-time by the flow rate.

During inspiration, the exhalation valve is pressurized to the Maximum Pressure level, ensuring gas delivery to the patient. At the end of inspiration, gas flow ceases, and the exhalation valve is connected to the PEEP valve signal, allowing the patient to exhale to PEEP or atmospheric pressure.

The Crossvent-3+ features a low flow flush system to prevent humidity from damaging the pressure transducer. This system uses solenoid valves D1 and D3 to pass a very low flow through the pneumotach tubes during inspiration. Solenoid valve D2 is used to zero the pressure transducer by equalizing pressure across it. During expiration, these solenoids are de-energized, allowing the pressure differential from the pneumotach to be passed to the transducer.
