6.2 Device-Specific File Installation
There are two configuration files specific to the device you have that must be copied
from the USB Flash Drive to specific folders in the BMC software folder.
The DM Profile file.
This is a configuration file that is matched to a unique DM and driver combination.
The Profile file name contains the serial number of the supplied DM device
in the format of <DM_Serial_Number>.dm. This file must be copied to the
Program Files\Boston Micromachines\Profiles folder.
The DM Flat Map file.
A Command Map that drives the Deformable Mirror surface to a plane,
so that it can be used as an optically flat surface during optical alignment.
The Flat Map file name contains the serial number of the supplied DM device
in the format <DM_Serial_Number>_FLAT_MAP_COMMANDS.txt.
This file must be copied to the
Program Files\Boston Micromachines\Shapes folder.
For more information on Flat Maps and Profiles, see Section 10.1, Glossary.
To copy the Device-Specific Files to their proper locations:
1. Insert the BMC SDK software USB Flash Drive into an available USB Port.
2. On the Desktop open My Computer, or click Start then click My Computer.
3. Browse to the USB Flash Drive which may appear in the Navigation Pane
as either USB DISK or Removable Disk.
4. In the file window, select and copy the Profile file <DM_Serial_Number>.dm.
The filename may not be identical to that of the serial number that is
noted in the data sheet or on the label of the DM.
This is due to the 11-character requirement of the filename in the software.
5. Browse to, and paste the file in, the
Program Files\Boston Micromachines\Profiles folder.
6. Browse back to the USB Flash Drive.
7. In the file window, select and copy the Flat Map file
<DM_Serial_Number>_FLAT_MAP_COMMANDS.txt.
8. Browse to, and paste the file in, the
Program Files\Boston Micromachines\Shapes folder.
The software installation is now complete.
Proceed to the next section to install the DM and Multi Driver hardware.
