9.3 Using DMShapes with Multiple DMs
The controlling PC can operate more than one DM and Driver combination
by using additional instances of DMShapes.
The quantity of attached Drivers is limited by the type of Driver interface.

Each instance of DMShapes will connect to the Multi Driver and DM that is specified
by the Multi Driver serial number in the Profile file that is loaded. For DMs purchased prior
to January 1, 2018, contact Boston Micromachines to enable this functionality.
To connect a single PC to multiple DMs:
1. Install the BMC SDK on the PC per Section 6.1, BMC SDK Software Installation
Instructions.
2. Install the DM specific files for each DM per Section 6.2, Device-Specific File
Installation.
3. Connect each of the DM and Driver combinations per the appropriate instructions.
4. One at a time, verify each DM and Driver combination per the appropriate
instructions.
5. For each DM and Driver combination you want to control:
a) Open an instance of DMShapes.
b) Load the Profile file for that DM and Driver combination.
The Profile contains both the interface type (USB or PCIe)
and for Drivers with USB interfaces, the serial number of the Driver.
• For Profiles that specify a USB interface, the application will connect
to each Driver connected to a USB port, verify the serial number of the
connected Driver, and, if verified correctly, will control the DM attached
to that Driver.
• For Profiles that specify a PCIe interface, the application will connect
to the Driver connected to the PCIe card (if installed), and control
the DM attached to that Driver.
DO NOT use the same Profile in more than one instance DMShapes.
Unexpected results will occur.
