9.2 Using the DMShapes Application
9.2.1 To Start DMShapes
• On Windows: Click Start, then click All Programs, then click Boston
Micromachines, then click DMShapes.
• On Linux: From the Run dialog or your preferred terminal emulator, run
“/opt/Boston Micromachines/bin/DMShapes” (with quotes)
When the application opens:
o The last specified Profile will be loaded.
o There will be no Command Map (shape) loaded.
9.2.2 To Load a Profile
1. On the Menu Bar, click File, then click Open DM.
The Find DM Profile dialog will display with the
C:\Program Files\Boston Micromachines\Profiles folder open.
2. Locate and select the Profile file that was supplied with your DM.
The Profile file name should contain the serial number of the attached DM device.
3. Click Open.
The selected Profile will load in the application.
The serial number of the DM specified by the currently loaded Profile will display in
the DMShapes Title Bar. This is the file name of the currently loaded Profile.
The Actuator Map specified by the profile will display.
If the selected Profile does not match the type of Driver attached, if the driver
has not been connected to the PC, or if the driver has not been turned on,
an error message will display.
9.2.3 To Load a Shape (Command Map)
• In the Shapes list, click to select a Shape file.
The selected Shape file will load in the application.
The Actuator Display will refresh with the values in the Shape file.
The proper commands will be sent to the DM.
The Piston value will be set to 0.25 (although this has no effect on the DM).
