Pointer Gauge
Each pointer comes with a gauge that serves to prevent pointer damage and ensure maximum
accuracy. If the pointer is undamaged, the pins insert properly into the holes of the gauge, and
the tip aligns with the corresponding counter pin on the pointer gauge.
Figure 12
Warning
If Softouch does not fit into the gauge without using force, this means that the marker pins
are bent and the pointer is out of tolerance.
Warning
Only use Softouch after verifying its accuracy using the Softouch Pointer gauge.
Always store Softouch in the supplied case when not in use. Make sure to lock it to prevent
unauthorized use.
Safety Considerations
Warning
Only use Softouch on the patient’s skin, not on the eyes.
Warning
Do not use Softouch on damaged skin.
Warning
Do not use Softouch on loose skin that has no “immediate” contact with bony structures,
otherwise registration accuracy may be affected.
Warning
Do not touch Softouch tip to metal when acquiring points on the patient’s skin.
Warning
Do not use with a dismounted battery cover.
Warning
Do not sterilize Softouch. Sterilization will destroy the device and might lead to severe
damage of the sterilization equipment or injury to the patient or user.
Softouch may be used for unsterile procedures only. For cleaning and disinfection
instructions, see the Cleaning, Disinfection, and Sterilization Guide.
