After Registration
Following registration you can drape the patient and attach the sterile Standard Cranial
Reference Array using the same procedure described for the Reference Clamp Universal.
During Use
Warning
Once the Vario Reference Arm (Mayfield Headholder) has been mounted, do not change the
position by readjusting the central tension handle or the Mayfield “T” Screw. This could
damage the drape, and compromise the sterility and referencing accuracy.
Warning
Do not unscrew the Mayfield “T” screw and/or the central tension handle after patient
registration. The entire coordinate system will no longer be accurate and the instrument tip
incorrectly displayed. Only the fixation nut may be unscrewed to exchange the Standard
Cranial Reference Array.
Warning
Do not move the marker array relative to the patient’s anatomy during later procedures as
this would improperly affect the entire measurement coordinate system and lead to an
incorrect display of the instrument’s tip.
NOTE: Tightly close the central tension handle to prevent unintentional loosening. The Vario
Reference Arm (Mayfield Headholder) has a limited load capacity. Do not load the Vario
