6-3 Self-maintenance
1. Set the power supply in “OFF” position and confirm that the headlights and other
accessories are turned off.
2. Open the fuse box cover.
3. Measure the fuse with the conduction positions on the multimeter to check it for being
blown; Check each of the thick fuses in the fuse box below the front hatch.
4. Pull out the thin fuses in the fuse box in the front cabin and all the fuses in the fuse box
inside the car with the fuse puller attached into the fuse box in the front cabin, and
check them one by one.
5. Find the blown fuse. If it has been
blown, replace it with a spare fuse
with the same or lower ampere
value.
If the fault is not eliminated, the car
cannot be started, and there is no
spare fuse for replacement, the
fuse with the same or lower ampere
value from other circuits can be
removed for replacement, but it
must be confirmed that the circuit
with fuse replacement is not used
temporary (such as radio) for
normal driving.
If the blown fuse is replaced with a spare fuse with a lower ampere value, it may be
blown again.
Although it does not indicate a fault, the fuse should be replaced as soon as possible
with a fuse of the proper rated value.
Note
Do not use a fuse with a higher rated ampere value, or any other object to replace the
fuse; otherwise it may cause a serious damage and even a fire.
If the blown fuse with a fuse with a higher ampere value, it may increase greatly the
possibility of damage to the electrical system.
If there is no an alternative fuse with an ampere value that can match the circuit,
must use a fuse with lower ampere value.
6. If the replacement fuse with the same ampere value is blown off within a short time, it
may indicate a serious electrical fault. In this case, the blown fuse should be left in the
circuit, and invite a professional technician to check your car.
