7. Maintenance
7.1 Maintenance Schedule
Proper inspection and maintenance will prevent accidents and breakdowns. To maintain the machine's normal
function and ensure daily safe operation, carry out the regular inspection according to the chart below.
The regular inspection consists of the yearly, monthly and daily pre-operation checks.
The chart below includes inspections which require technical
knowledge, special tools and/or measuring instruments. For
those inspections, consult your dealer or one of our service cen-
ters.
NOTE

Air cleaner
Tightening
See if engine starts smoothly with-
out making any irregular noise.
Check engine speed without load-
ing at idling and at full speed. See
if engine runs smoothly.
Accelerate engine; see if throttle
lever moves smoothly, and engine
accelerates smoothly.
Thoroughly warm up engine and
inspect exhaust gas and engine
noise from idling to ful speed.
Look for exhaust gas leaks in
exhaust pipes, muffler etc.
Look for cracks or deformation on
case, loose lid or loose pipes.
Inspect air cleaner element and pre-
cleaner element.
Look for loose or missing bolts or
nuts securing cylinder head or
exhaust pipes.
* This may be omitted if no exhaust
or water leak is observed.
Shall start smoothly
without making any
irregular noise.
Engine speed shall be as
specified. Engine shall
continue to run smoothly.
Throttle lever shall move
smoothly, and engine
accelerates smoothly
without knocking or
stalling.
Exhaust gas color and
noise shall be normal.
There shall be no leak.
Case shall be free of
cracks or deformation.
Lid and pipes shall be
tightly mounted.
Elements shall not be
excessively dirty. Shall
be free of marked dam-
age.
Bolts and nuts shall not
be missing, and shall be
fastened tightly.
Request dealer for
inspection.
